ITV Studios Global Entertainment sells Hell’s Kitchen USA into Asia
ITV Studios Nordic has been commissioned by Finland’s MTV3 to produce a local version (12 x 60’) of ITV Studios’ hit format Hell’s Kitchen, which will premiere in autumn 2013. Hosted by Michelin-starred Finnish chef Sauli Kemppainen, Hell’s Kitchen Finland will be shot in a real restaurant that will open in Helsinki in July.
Hans Engholm, CEO, ITV Studios Nordic, said: “Hell’s Kitchen has already enjoyed international ratings success so we’re delighted to be working with MTV3 to produce the format in Finland for the first time. We anticipate that it will prove equally as popular with local viewers as it has with audiences worldwide.”
Pete Paavolainen, Head of Formats, MTV3 added: "We are extremely excited to finally get the chance to bring Hell´s Kitchen to Finland. It is by far the biggest and most dramatic of all the cooking formats around, a perfect match for MTV3 which is the biggest commercial channel in the territory."
A hugely popular international format, ITV Studios’ Hell’s Kitchen has now been produced in 13 territories worldwide, including the US, UK, Germany, France and Spain. ITV Studios America’s Hell’s Kitchen USA is a global phenomenon; series 11 premiered on FOX in the US last month to 5.4 million viewers, the highest rated programme of the night for the 18-49 demographic, and at least one series has been acquired by every country worldwide.
ITV Studios Global Entertainment has also had great success with Hell’s Kitchen as a finished programme, most recently securing deals for Hell’s Kitchen USA in Asia. Series 7-12 of the American series have been acquired by Discovery India, while series 11 has been bought by South Korea’s CJ.
Hell’s Kitchen sees a terrifying high-profile chef attempt to instil their love of all things food into a group of competing amateur chefs. With their reputation on the line, the perfectionist chef assesses the amateurs’ performances and drives them to achieve their best, but only one will have what it takes to survive in Hell’s Kitchen!
Hell’s Kitchen Finland is executive produced by Aram Aflatuni and Heli Koskela and series produced by Heli Koskela with assistant producer Heidi Räihä for ITV Studios Nordic.
